Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says his side don’t have to compete with the fashion of Manchester City since the 2 clubs struggle at the top of the Premier League.
The Reds were not in their attacking at Chelsea on Sunday but earned a 2-1 win to maintain their five-point guide over City.
Watford 8-0 on Saturday , meanwhile, swept aside.
“This sort of football not a lot of teams can play,” said Klopp.
“But we perform in our way, we attempt to win football games.
“In the end we will need to get the points, there is no competition in technical things, it is about the things.”
As Trent along with Roberto Firmino’s header gave them control in the interval klopp’s name pace-setters appeared on track to win in relaxation.
When Cesar Azpilicueta’s close-range campaign was ruled out for offside by VAR, chelsea, who had been denied an equaliser, have been in no mood and made Liverpool battle every inch of the best way to keep that record.
Tammy Abraham had chances to increase his tally of seven goals this year, especially when he had been refused by Liverpool keeper Adrian when clean through at the first half, but it had been abandoned to N’Golo Kante to set up a grandstand finish with a great strike with 19 minutes to perform.
Liverpool held on, living opportunities that were missed from Mason Mount and Michy Batshuayi, to carry the three points.
“it is a tough spot to come, it is a while ago that we won here. It is a big win,” Klopp additional.
“The boys did very well, they fought very hard. I really don’t think there’s any other means. It’s a big win.”
Liverpool stay unstoppable in their Premier League duel with Manchester City when they are supposed to claim the big prize at the end of the season all champions will need to secure.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have made a habit of unleashing an blitz that was attacking since the start of last season, their sequence extended to 15 games on opponents in a run of only 1 league loss.
This was totally different.
Liverpool might have appeared to have been on cruise control with this advantage, however Chelsea were in this match and pressed against the league leaders directly before the final whistle.
They were sloppy than usual, were far beneath their best and on events looked excruciating – but that they emerged victorious by what is traditionally one of the most hazardous away missions within the calendar.
Over the span of a very lengthy campaign, a season Liverpool will expect will finish their wait it is victories on times such as this which is vital, or even more so, compared to the times when competitions are dismissed.
The delight at the final whistle of klopp, in contrast to some of his expressions of fury throughout the match, said everything.
This is a victory that is vital. Liverpool’s bandwagon rolls on.
Chelsea have to win at home in Champions League and the Premier League this season, and no defeat by Liverpool is anything besides an distressing experience.
And yet, in spite of this loss coming hard on the heels of their home defeat by Valencia in their Champions League group game, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard will require assurance and comfort in the operation of his team.
This is a new Chelsea, being built in a fashion by Lampard, and also leaning on children such as Fikayo Tomori Mason Mount and Abraham.
After Liverpool went up two through the header of Firmino VAR had overruled after poor marking at a free-kick, the goal coming minutes after Azpilicueta equaliser, it would have been simple for Chelsea’s heads.
Nothing pressurised and could have been pressed Liverpool before receiving a ovation from the Chelsea fans until the final whistle.
Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga might have retained them in it with a save from Firmino however Chelsea, driven by the Kante, were left cursing those missed opportunities for Mount and Batshuayi which could have earned them a point.
No Chelsea conquer is not hard to take against Liverpool, but this is a performance that can give encouragement and hope to Lampard.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard:”Performance-wise we were the finest team. We had more energy within our sport, personality and soul. That’s why the audience applauded at the end. Let’s take this forward.”
About VAR:”We’ve got to get on it. It’s a sad thing for the second and your party but that’s where we’re at, when we are looking for decisions. The atmosphere in the audience changes , on the pitch. We are slightly deflated and they get a boost. We needed to be level at that point.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp:”The first half was difficult work. It is about momentum in games like this and I think we got that at the first half. We scored two excellent goals and we could have scored directly after half time. We deserved the 3 points, it’s tough to win ”
“We are only here. Chelsea matches in. So we have to carry on, we have not won anything apart from matches. We have to be ready for each opponent. They are all waiting and would like to provide us a bang so, however, we need to be prepared to do what we must do.”
Attention turns into the League Cup as Liverpool head to League One side MK Dons on Wednesday (19:45 BST), although Chelsea sponsor League 2 Grimsby on the Exact Same day (19:45 BST).
