(CNN) — Newly appointed Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri was diagnosed with disabilities and is likely to miss the Serie A winner’s opening match of the year.
The Italian suffered from the flu but Juventus affirmed his condition was serious.
Sarri was Juventus’ training centre on Monday however his condition meant he’d no role in the day surgeries.
“Unfortunately he couldn’t run the practice on the area on account of the persistent flu, that struck him on the span of the past week,” a club statement said on Monday. “In the late day , he underwent additional tests that confirmed he has pneumonia, for which therapy has been prescribed.”
Wednesday sarri received treatment before the preseason tune-up against the club’s youth group. His condition didn’t improve and that he was not able to attend to the friendly win.

In June, Sarri confessed to smoking 60 cigarettes per day. “I do not particularly feel the need to smoke through games,” he advised Football Italia. “But straight afterwards it is actually necessary.”
Juventus, chasing a consecutive league title, kicks off its effort but might be without its new supervisor who replaced fellow Italian Max Allegri.
Sarri returned after a single year in England to Italy where Chelsea was steered by him and lifted the Europa League after defeating Arsenal 4-1 in Baku.
Where he handled in 2018 having taken his Napoli to next in the 32, despite the debut year in England, Sarri was lured back into his homeland. Former Blues midfielder Frank Lampard replaced at Stamford Bridge him.
