William Haggas Intends to Provide an outing in Australia to Raheen House before a Possible shot in the Lexus Melbourne Cup at Flemington in November.
The Newmarket trainer has allowed the Caulfield Cup on October 19 as his goal for the gelded son of Sea Even the Stars, together with the Geelong Cup four times later identified as an alternative choice.
The five year old, one of two horses to get beaten dual Arc winner Enable, finished down the field on his most recent start in the month Ebor at York – but he’d been placed in both Listed and Group race business on the Knavesmire.
Haggas stated:”Raheen House is currently in quarantine right now, and he is due to go to Australia shortly.
“I think he’s going to run into the Caulfield Cup if he gets in. If he doesn’t get in he would likely go to the Geelong Cup.
“I think he wants to have a race at first prior to the Melbourne Cup. He will run really well down there, and that I don’t think the two-mile excursion in the Melbourne Cup will be no issue.”
The Classic winning handler considers he was conspired against by things.
Haggas added:”He got a lot back, also (jockey) James (Doyle) stated he didn’t really have that early speed.
“James said they went challenging, though, and that he only got in the wrong place – but that is how it is.
“The ground may have been also been somewhat quick for him”
