Mako Vunipola and Jack Nowell will miss the first two games of England coach Eddie Jones has confirmed.
England prop Vunipola suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury during a month win over Ireland, while Nowell remains currently stepping up his recovery.
Neither guy showcased in England pummelling of Italy on Friday night, and following the St James’ Park clash, Jones declared that the pair will play no part in England’s first two World Cup matches from USA and Tonga .
Asked if the set can be fit for England’s opener,” Jones explained:”Mako certainly will not function but we believe he could possibly be perfect for game three or match four in the pool phase.
“Jack Nowell has just obtained the past few days off so we have had to carry him back somewhat. He should be correct similar to Mako. Everyone else is in full training.”
